Abu Dhabi (January 26, 2014) – The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has appointed Anton Martin the Managing Director & Head of Sales in the Global Markets to lead marketing of NBAD’s institutional, corporate and credit products as well as structuring and risk solutions.

Mr. Martin reports to Mahmood Al Aradi, the Senior Managing Director and Head of Global Markets.

Mr. Martin brings to NBAD more than 20 years of rich experience working in the financial markets in diverse geographies such as the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore; working for institutions such as Lloyds TSB, West LB and Standard Chartered Bank. During his career, Mr. Martin has co-headed a wholesale banking operation covering Northeast Asia.

“Anton’s knowledge and experience in the financial markets across multiple geographies and markets will be a valuable asset for NBAD, and will serve our strategies, particularly to grow in West-East Corridor,” says Mr. Al Aradi.

NBAD’s West-East Corridor strategy would capitalize on the Bank’s and the UAE strong fundamentals as well as the country’s strategic location to drive growth in the increasing trade and investment flows from West Africa to East Asia. One pillar of this strategy is to deepen NBAD’s wholesale network across the West-East Corridor and to further integrate it with NBAD’s existing European and North American platforms.

NBAD has the largest global operation among UAE banks, with a network in 18 countries from mainland China and Hong Kong in the Far East to Malaysia in Southeast Asia; Oman, the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait in GCC, Jordan and Lebanon in the Levant; Egypt, Sudan and Libya in Africa; Switzerland, France, Channel Islands and UK in Europe; USA and Brazil in Americas.

NBAD, the largest UAE bank by asset and market value as well as the most profitable, has been ranked in the World’s 50 Safest Banks since 2009 and now the Safest Bank in the Emerging Markets by the prestigious Global Finance.

“I look forward to be a part of NBAD. NBAD’s strong brand, robust fundamentals and strategic vision makes it an exhilarating and inspiring company,” Mr. Martin says.

Mr. Martin holds a BA Honors in Economics and Social Studies.
