Payments: the future by HSBC and SWIFT

More than 100 corporate treasurers and senior finance professionals gathered in Dubai recently for the Universwiftnet conference, hosted jointly by HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd and SWIFT.

Entitled The Future of Payment Systems, the discussions on the day were structured around three main themes: Think, Implement & Deploy. Attendees participated in activities that included panel discussions, presentations and case studies on SWIFT deployment strategies for corporates, connectivity issues, security and operational challenges.

HSBC Middle East also launched its 2010 HSBC’s Guide to Cash, Supply Chain and Treasury Management in The Middle East. Designed as an industry guide, and written by sector experts as well as HSBC professionals, this, the third edition, featured a strong theme of risk management as the region emerges from the recent economic downturn.

John Scott, HSBC’s regional head of sales, who hosted the event alongside Herve Postic, associate, UTSIT, said, “HSBC is deeply engaged with global solutions providers such as SWIFT, and we worked closely with the regional and global teams to bring this conference to the Middle East for the first time. The feedback from the event has been tremendous.”
