The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) won a prestigious award, the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) for the Global Islamic Export Credit and Political Risk Insurance 2018. ICIEC was the finalist among a number of nominated organizations, which are well respected in the export credit and political risk insurance industry.

The Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) is the most prestigious Islamic finance awards program in the world. GIFA was founded in 2011 by Edbiz Corporation as part of its advocacy for the nascent Islamic banking and finance industry. Since then it has annually been awarding its top accolade  – the Global Islamic Finance Leadership Award – to heads of states or governments for their leadership and advocacy roles in promoting Islamic banking and finance in their respective jurisdictions or globally. It has also been recognizing the exceptional and innovative work being done by the private sector in Islamic banking, finance and Takaful.

The Chief Executive Officer of ICIEC, Mr. Oussama Kaissi, thanked the organizers of the award. He said, “It is truly an honor for all of us at ICIEC to receive this prestigious international recognition”.

Mr.  Kaissi, added that “The Global Islamic Export Credit and Political Risk Insurance Award 2018 is a valuable testament to the innovative Shariah-Compliant services we are offering to our business partners in this field. Mr. Kaissi stressed that, “ICIEC will continue to meet its stakeholders’ expectations and will remain well placed to play its catalyst role in promoting trade and foreign direct investments in the Corporation’s member countries”.

ICIEC continues its solid performance in terms of Business Insured, on the back of the increasing demand of the market for Investment and Credit Insurance services. In recognition of the Corporation’s robust performance and its long-term sustainability, Moody’s Investors Service, a global rating agency, reaffirmed in July 2018 ICIEC’s Aa3 Insurance Financial Strength Rating (IFSR) for the eleventh consecutive year.
