    Standard Chartered appoints Regional Head of Origination and Client Coverage for Middle East North Africa and Pakistan region

    Morad Mahlouji will lead the Bank’s wholesale Banking client relationship management

     

    UAE, 22 May, 2012 – Standard Chartered announced today the appointment of Morad Mahlouji as Regional Head of Origination and Client Coverage (OCC) for the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan (MENAP). In his new role, Morad will lead the Bank’s Origination and Client Coverage Group, which shapes the client-centric strategy of deepening client relationships across the Bank’s business in the region. As part of his role, Morad will also assume direct responsibility as the Head of Origination and Client Coverage for the UAE, one of Standard Chartered’s top five markets globally.

    David Law, his predecessor, will assume the role of Regional Head of Corporate Finance for Africa, based in Johannesburg.  David joined the Group in 2009 and brings a wealth of corporate advisory and leveraged finance experience to his new role.

    Commenting on the appointment, Christos Papadopoulos, Regional Chief Executive Officer for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan at Standard Chartered, said:

    “Standard Chartered is committed to a client-led strategy that has been key to our success in the region and globally, and the bank will continue to focus on deepening relationships across the franchise in MENAP. Morad brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the region and will be leading the client relationship management of our Wholesale Banking business in the region.”

    Morad joined Standard Chartered in 2009 with a proven track record of building businesses over a career spanning 23 years in the industry.  He has strong product knowledge and a deep understanding of the Middle East. Most recently, Morad was the Global Co-Head of Structuring in Financial Markets.  Morad will report directly to Sean Wallace, Group Head, OCC and to the Head of Geographies, Wholesale Banking. He will also report to Jonathan Morris, CEO, UAE, in relation to his role as Head of OCC, UAE.
